outlook 2003 5270

Outlook 2003 on 5270

I'm starting to bang my head against the wall on this one.
Installed 5270 yesterday, then Outlook 2003 then SP2. Setup Outlook etc etc. None of my e-mail accounts will actually pull e-mail down from the POP3 servers. The green bar races across with no errors reported, but the e-mail just stays on the server. Sending mail works fine however.
Anyone else ran into this. I've tried it with new mail profiles and new PSTs same result.

POP3 doesn't work with Windows Mail (in build 5270).

I tried Windows Mail and it does work on 5270 - at least for receiving, I used it to make sure the server was actually working.

POP3 and IMAP are supported but not HTTP for some persons, unless you are Premium subscriber to Hotmail or MSN. -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta FAQ for MS AntiSpy http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm

Just to follow up it does authenticate, so it falls over somewhere after there.

Try installing Windows Components - go through the Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, then Advanced Options and Windows Features - there might be something in there which helps. Also check services.msc and see if the service is running for POP3 :o)

Nothing I can see related in Windows Features, should there even be a POP service?

I think Zack is confusing Enabling POP3 Service on a Windows Server for setting up your Server as Mail Server.
POP3 and IMAP are two of the options available when setting up an account in Windows Mail. You can do this my Opening Windows Mail > Tools > Accounts > Add > Mail and follow the wizard. You then reach a point during the wizard where you select from the list box, POP3 or IMAP. -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta FAQ for MS AntiSpy http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm

Thought so. 8-)
5270 is nearly usable for me day-to-day (aside from WMP11 and a bit of audio performance), it's just a shame Outlook decides there's no mail on my servers, which means reboot to XP.

Yeah, I understand, Media Player 11 and my sound card just can't agree with each other, pops and hisses, hopefully it will be a different story in the next CTP. -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta FAQ for MS AntiSpy http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm

Looks like a bug with 5270.
